1. Introduction

BiteBrawl ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account Data: Email address and display name when you create an account.
• Fridge Photos: Images you capture to identify ingredients. These are processed by AI and stored temporarily (30 days) for your scan history.
• Dish Photos: Images you submit during cooking duels, stored for up to 90 days.
• Preferences: Dietary restrictions, skill level, and cuisine preferences you set.

Information Collected Automatically

• Device Information: Device type, operating system, and a randomly generated device identifier for anonymous users.
• Usage Data: Scan counts, recipes generated, duel participation, and feature usage patterns.
• Performance Data: API response times and error logs (no personal data included).

3. How We Use Your Information

• Core Service: Identifying ingredients, generating recipes, and facilitating cooking duels.
• Personalization: Tailoring recipe suggestions to your preferences and past activity.
• Gamification: Tracking your Waste Warrior score, streaks, and leaderboard position.
• Improvement: Analyzing aggregate usage patterns to improve the Service (never individual behavior).
• Communication: Sending duel notifications, streak reminders, and service updates (you can opt out anytime).

4. AI Processing

Your fridge photos are sent to our servers and processed using Anthropic's Claude AI to identify ingredients. We do not use your photos or data to train AI models. Photos are processed in real-time and cached results are stored for 24 hours to reduce redundant processing. Original photos are automatically deleted after 30 days.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Anthropic: Fridge photos for AI ingredient identification (subject to Anthropic's privacy policy).
• Supabase: Database hosting and authentication services.
• Cloudflare: Content delivery, image storage, and API hosting.

All service providers are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for providing their services to us.

6. Data Retention

• Fridge photos: 30 days, then automatically deleted.
• Dish photos: 90 days, then automatically deleted.
• Recipe cache: 24 hours.
• Account data: Until you delete your account.
• Anonymous session data: 30 days of inactivity.

7. Your Rights

You can:

• Access, update, or delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app's Profile settings.
• Export your data by contacting us.
• Opt out of non-essential notifications.
• Use the app anonymously with limited features (5 scans/day, no account required).

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), row-level security policies on all database tables, and secure token-based authentication. Your API keys and credentials are never exposed to the mobile client.

9. Children's Privacy

BiteBrawl is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using BiteBrawl (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

BiteBrawl is a mobile application and web service that uses artificial intelligence to identify ingredients from photos of your fridge, generate custom recipes, and facilitate cooking competitions ("Duels") between users. The Service is provided free of charge.

3. Account Registration

• You may use limited features anonymously (up to 5 scans per day).
• To access full features (saving recipes, duels, leaderboards), you must create an account with a valid email address.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload photos containing inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content.
• Manipulate duel voting through fake accounts or automated means.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the AI services.
• Harass, bully, or send abusive messages to other users.
• Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our written consent.
• Circumvent scan limits or other usage restrictions.

5. User Content

• You retain ownership of all photos and content you submit to the Service.
• By submitting content (fridge photos, dish photos, recipe notes), you grant BiteBrawl a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, process, and display this content solely for providing and improving the Service.
• Dish photos submitted during duels will be visible to other users who participate in or vote on the duel.
• Recipes marked as "public" may be visible to other users.

6. Duels & Competitions

• Duels are informal cooking competitions with no monetary prizes.
• Points and Waste Warrior scores are for entertainment and gamification purposes only and have no cash value.
• We reserve the right to void duel results if we detect cheating or manipulation.
• Duel challenges expire after 24 hours if not accepted. Cooking phases last 30 minutes. Voting lasts 24 hours.

7. AI-Generated Content

• Recipes and ingredient identifications are generated by AI and provided for informational purposes only.
• We do not guarantee the accuracy of ingredient identification, nutritional information, or recipe safety.
• Always use your own judgment regarding food safety, allergies, and dietary restrictions.
• BiteBrawl is not a substitute for professional nutritional or medical advice.

8. Intellectual Property

The BiteBrawl name, logo, design, and underlying technology are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. AI-generated recipes are provided for your personal use and may not be commercially republished in bulk without permission.

9. Free Service & Future Monetization

• BiteBrawl is currently free to use with all core features available at no cost.
• We may introduce optional paid features, premium tiers, or advertising in the future. Core scanning and recipe functionality will remain free.
• We will notify users of any significant changes to the pricing model.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
• We are not liable for any injuries, illness, allergic reactions, or damages resulting from following AI-generated recipes or ingredient suggestions.
• We are not responsible for food spoilage, waste, or incorrect expiry date estimates.
• Our total liability shall not exceed $100 USD.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from the app's Profile settings. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration.

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
